We all know the legend that the E36 has become, but seen as this car does not share many components with an E36M anymore, we’ll just let you skip to the next section.
About the vehicle offered here:
Originally an Italy-delivered E36 M3 3.0, the car has undergone extensive reimagination to achieve its current form and rapidness. As it is Italian, it has no rust issues and has never been welded.
An E46 M3-derived S54 engine now sits under the bonnet with a major overhaul completed prior to installation in 2021, including new rod bearings, rebuilt Vanos, resealing the cylinder head, new oil cooler and engine coolant lines, new power steering hoses, new alternator, SPAL electric fan etc. The exhaust is a custom single-pipe unit.
The gearbox is the original 5-speed manual, but the drivetrain is still levels above a factory E36, owing to its Vibratechnics engine mounts, E46 gearbo mounts and especially the 188mm differential with 4 sets of friction plates, allowing up to 75% lock. The ratio is 3.64:1 and the car is completely poly bushed.
Manthey-specced KW Competition 2-way coilovers with camber plates, IRP rear camber arms, Strongflex rear top mounts, poly bushings and uniballs on all moving parts, H&R anti-roll-bars and 17×9″ Rota wheels, clad in Nankang CR-S (245/40 R17) tires, ensure the power is translated to the road. Upping the game even more are an E46-derived quick steering rack, front and rear strut bars and an original E36 Cabrio X-brace.
The list of upgrades won’t stop just yet, but the car will stop in an instant at any time, thanks to 6-piston AP Racing brake calipers, grabbing onto 343×33 mm discs via Pagid RSL-29 pads at the front and 4-pot AP Racing calipers and same pads at the rear. Of course, HEL braided brakes lines have been fitted, too.
In the cockpit you’ll find alcantara-retrimmed Recaro SPG seats with M-stripes on OMP rails. Rear bank? Deleted, upholstered in the same alcantara as the front seats. Tightened to the Wiechers Clubsport roll bar are Schroth 6-point safety harnesses. Steering wheel supplied by QSP.
AUX stereo connection for your hearing enjoyment and a GT rear spoiler and carbon fibre GT splitter for your viewing pleasures (and aero, too)!
Covered around 120 Nürburgring laps and a few track days.
