The E39 generation was introduced in 1996 and the hype for the new M5 was significant. But boy, did the Bavarians deliver! In 1998, the new M5 came about and along came its superb 4.9-litre V8, the S62, delivering over 400 hp to the rear wheels via a desirable six-speed manual transmission.
Our car has had 4 private owners from new and currently shows 163.955 km on the odometer. Thankfully, it is largely in original condition, with the exception of Power Rohr rear mufflers that provide some additional base to the car's glorious soundtrack.
It is finished in the stylish and highly-desired shade of Carbonschwarz Metallic (Carbon Black Metallic) over a black and Le Mans Blue embossed ‘Strauss’ leather-trimmed interior, punctuated by brushed aluminium-effect inlays on the dashboard, door cards, and gear shifter surround, as well as M Sport stitching on the steering wheel. Equipment includes rear parking sensors, an electric glass sunroof, electrically adjustable heated front seats with three-position driver’s memory, electrically folding door mirrors, cruise control, xenon headlights with washers, dual-zone climate control, a built-in BMW-branded phone, an electric rear sunblind, and a BMW Business radio with 6CD changer.
The car comes with the owner’s manuals, the tool kit, and some past invoices.
Most recent maintenance was carried out at 161.350 km by ReLegends in the Czech Republic, which consisted of an engine oil and filter change, a general inspection, and the replacement of the valve cover gaskets, as well as the front brake discs and pads. Since joining our staple, the car has been fitted with new chrome kidney grille, air filters and front plastic door sills (all original BMW parts).
